From here it follows that whenever μμ and σσ are the mean and std. dev. of some distribution (hence, constants) then z(x)=x−μσz(x)=x−μσ is the zz-score of xx which depends on xx and defined using σσ. In such case, σσ can be considered as a "unit" of measurements and z(x)z(x) tells us on how many units is xx far from the mean μ
