from my observation, the health system in Bangladesh is well structured comprising of the unions, upazillas, district hospitals and medical college hospitals. but in terms of workforce there is a large disparity in the number of doctors compared to other health professionals such as nurses. the number of nurses need to rise above the number of doctors since the nurses are involved in taking care of the patients and therefore without them in large numbers the work will not move smoothly.
another important observation i made is the percentage of health spending in terms of GDP is low, as of 2011 it stood at 3.7%. lack of huge government spending in healthcare will affect the quality of care coming out of the hospitals which will negatively affect the quality of life of the people.
