The specific objectives of an investigation are to define the parameters of the epidemic (i.e., time of illness onset and conclusion of the epidemic, number of cases, and morbidity and mortality), 

-to identify control or prevention measures, and possibly

- to identify new data relative to the epidemiology of the health problem. Epi-Aids always are performed collaboratively with partners domestically or internationally.
