3. Here, oxygen travels from alveoli to capillaries through a diffusion process that facilitates gas exchange.

4. Because of the concentration process, carbon dioxide travels from blood vessels to alveoli.

Through this procedure, blood is oxygenated or cleansed before traveling via the pulmonary vein from the lungs to the heart.
