Basic Information about Chemistry lab
Course rationale :
These courses reflect curriculum for excellence for values, purposes, and principles. This course provides to increase the ability to perform accurate quantitative measurements with an understanding of the theory and use of contemporary chemical instrumentation,
interpret experimental results, perform calculations on these results and draw reasonable, accurate conclusions. This course will also provide the basic concept of Solution, Acid-Base Titration, Redox Titration, Determination of Different metal, Hardness of Water. Students obtain knowledge and understanding of the issues of safety regulations, ethics, and societal issues in using chemicals in their laboratory work. Moreover, this course will cover moderate are of Inorganic Quantitative Analysis,
Which is very important to analyze chemicals in different industrial aspects.
Course Objectives :
- Able to apply their knowledge to analysis
chemical.
- Engineering department students are
using chemistry practical knowledge their own existing field to analysis
different raw-material.
- Calculate molarities / Normality of a
solution starting with pure solute or with a concentrated solution as well as explain how to prepare a solution of a given molarities/ Normality.
- Explain the difference between solubility and dissociation in water and apply this knowledge to acids, bases, and salts.
- Identify weak and strong acids and bases and insoluble compounds using dissociation and solubility rules.
- Identify redox reactions including identifying the oxidation, reduction, oxidation agent, and reducing agent.
- Calculate oxidation numbers and balance redox reactions.
