  • Course Description

    Course Summary:

                               The key objectives of this course are to familiarize with the Practical view of  Power Plant Structure and operational details. To know about safety equipment for power plant working conditions. Analyze the power plant performance and design the layout of the different power plants.

    Course Objectives: 

    • To get familiar with various non-renewable and renewable energy source based power plants, their structure, and operation.
    • To know about PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for power plant operators.
    • To understand the general terminologies of Power plant operation and performance.
    • To design various power plants and smart grid layout using the software.

    Course Contents:

    • Study about renewable and non-renewable energy sources of Bangladesh.
    • Study on safety measures and protection equipment for power plants.
    • Study of Steam/Thermal Power plant equipment and its working principle.
    • Study of working and constructional details of Hydro Power plant.
    • Study of working principle and constructional details of the Nuclear Power plant.
    • Study of working principle and constructional details of Renewable Power plant.
    • Study on the design layout of the power plant and smart grid using the software.

  • Lab. 1 Familiarization with different non-renewable and renewable energy source for Power Plant.

     Lecture Objective

      • To be familiar with the various now-renewable and renewable energy sources for power plants.

                                                                                               

    Lecture Outcome:

    At the end of the session students will able to:

      • Learn about different energy sources.
      • Know about the energy content in a source.
     
     

  • Lab. 2 : Familiarization with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for Power plant operators.

    Lecture Objective

      • To be familiar with the various apparatus or equipment of personal protection for working conditions in the Power Plant.


                                                                                                       

    Lecture Outcome:

    At the end of the session students will able to:

      • Learn about safety equipment in power plant
      • Know the importance of safety equipment.


     

     


  • Lab. Performance Test

  • Lab. 3: Study oo constructional details and working principle of Steam/Thermal Power plant.

    Lecture Objective

      • To be familiar with the various apparatus or equipment of the steam/thermal power plant.
      • To gain exposure to actual steam power plant systems and its operation.

                                                                                          

    Lecture Outcome:

    At the end of the session students will able to:

      • Learn about different components of the thermal power plant.
      • Basic principle of thermal power plant operational mechanism.

      

     

  • Lab 4. : Study on constructional details and working principle of Hydro Power plant

    Lecture Objective

      • To be familiar with the various apparatus or equipment of Hydropower plant.
      • To gain exposure to actual Hydropower plant systems and its operation.

    At the end of the session students will able to:

      • Learn about different components of hydropower plant.
      • Basic principle of hydropower plant.

  • Lab. 4 : Study on constructional details and working principle of Nuclear Power plant

    Lecture Objective

      • To be familiar with the various apparatus or equipment of the Nuclear power plant.

  • Lab. 5: Familiarization with Solar (PV) system.

    Lecture Objective

      • To be familiar with the various component of Solar power plant.
      • To gain exposure to actual Solar power plant systems and its operation.
      • To learn about the offline and online solar system.

    At the end of the session students will able to:

      • Learn about different components of Solar power plant.

  • Lab. 06: Designing of off-line residential solar power system using MATLAB-SIMULINK software.

    Lecture Objective

      • To familiarize with the design mechanism of the off-line residential solar system using MATLAB-SIMULINK.

                                                                                              


    Lecture Outcome:

    At the end of the session students will able to:

      • Learn about designing of the grid-connected solar system using MATLAB-SIMULINK.

      • Discuss with each other and find the problems regarding upcoming final examination
