Differences between oil and fat :

i) Oils remain liquid at room temperature whereas fats remain solid at room temperature.

ii) Oils are mostly derived from plants and fats are mostly derived from animals.

Difference between oil and fat :

Oil : ( Vegetable oil, fish oil )

a) Liquid at room temperature,

b) Unsaturated fats like monounsaturated and polyunsaturated are its types,

c) Mostly derived from plants,

d) Improves cholesterol levels,

e) Mainly comes from plants or fish.



Fat : ( Butter, beef fat )

a) Solid at room temperature

b) Saturated and trans are its types

c) Mostly derived from animal

d) Increases cholesterol levels

e) Mainly comes from animal food but also through vegetable oil by process called hydrogenation
