Below I will discuss about some important literary theories that I have learned from my class.

★ Liberal Humanism : 

* The term signifies the ruling assumption, meaning and values of the modern epoch. 

* Understands literature or poetry to be timeless.  

* It reveals a universal truth about humanity. 

★ Structuralism: 

* Studies the underlying structure. 

* Text can't be understood in isolation.

* Understand the text through the larger context.

★ Post-structuralism :

* A rebellion against Structuralism.

* Utilizes analytical concepts from linguistics,       psychology, anthropology and other fields. 

* A critical and comprehensive response to the basic assumptions of Structuralism.

★ Marxism :

* A political and economic theory where a society has no classes.

* Deals with the clash between classes. 

* Dictatorship of the proletariat.

★ Feminism :

* Concerned with impact of gender on writing and     reading.

* Desire for a new literary canon.

* Deals with the conflicts between often dominate male and inferior female in traditional literature.
