Physiological barriers:

Physiological barriers to communication are related with the limitations of the human body and the human mind (memory, attention, and perception). Physiological barriers may result from individuals' personal discomfort, caused by ill-health, poor eye sight, or hearing difficulties.

Psychological barriers:

The psychological barrier of communication is the influence of psychological state of the communicators (sender and receiver) which creates an obstacle for effective communication. Communication is highly influenced by the mental condition that the communicators are in and is disturbed by mental disturbance.

Cultural barriers:

Cultural differences causes behavior and personality differences like body language, thinking, communication, manners, norms, etc. which leads to miscommunication. For example, in some cultures eye contact is important whereas in some it is rude and disrespectful, beliefs are also another cause for cultural barrier.

Ways to handling the problems that arise due to barriers of communication:

Barriers to communication can be overcome by:

checking whether it is a good time and place to communicate with the person.

being clear and using language that the person understands.

communicating one thing at a time.

respecting a person's desire to not communicate.

checking that the person has understood you correctly.
