The course is about“Literary theory”. Literary theory is the body of ideas and methods we use in the practical reading of literature. From this course, I can realize the importance of literature and different theories.

Now I am writing 5 different literary theories with three important points of each literary theory.

Liberal Humanism :

* According to liberal humanism, good literature is of timeless significance.

* This theory says that human nature is unchanging.

* According to this theory, the text reveals constants and universal truth about human nature.

Post Structuralism :

* Rejection of the self-sufficiency of structuralism,

* Argues that to understand a text, one must study both the object itself and the systems of knowledge that produced the object

* Utilizes analytical concepts from linguistics, psychology, and anthropology.

Deconstruction :

* Seeks to show that a literary work is self-contradictory.

*  Revolution and Conserva

*  increasing dominance of technology

* Invites us to unravel the constructs around us and reexamine appearance and reality.

*  Most high school teachers never teach this form of analysis.

Modernism :

*  Revolution and Conservatism

*  Mourning for the loss of tradition and fragmentation

*  increasing dominance of technology

Marxism:

* Karl Marx perceived human history to have consisted of a series of struggles between classes--between the oppressed and the oppressing ("the haves" and "the have-nots").

* Marx thought that materialism was the ultimate driving force in history.

* Feudalism exploits workers to the point of revolt.
