Topic to apply: Socio-psychological
impact of COVID-19 among young students in Bangladesh
3. Explanation according to the steps covered in the
session:
Background: The socio-psychological impact of COVID-19 has
affected the whole world. Bangladesh, one of the most dangerous places as
stated by WHO, was first infected at the beginning of March 2020, later than
other countries. Bangladesh is now one of the 20 most affected countries in the
world, but the psychological effects for university students during the
epidemic period are not researched.
Design and methods: To address
this gap, the present study attempts to discover the socio-psychological
impact of COVID-19 on university students in Bangladesh. We conducted an online
survey using a questionnaire with a simple random sampling technique and we
received 474 responses.
Results: In this study,
numerous psychological concerns were reported. The study is limited to
university students, which may affect the generalizability of the research.
Conclusions: Our
findings suggest a need to build awareness of the mental health implications of
the pandemic for university students.
I have
worked with a team of professors from University of Oxford and some other
professors from Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. Six of our papers related to this
topic has already been published and three are under review. All these
publications are indexed in ISI or Scopus.
The research will take around 6 months in
total. The maximum duration is 6 months or December 2021 which is the earliest.
As I am
a researcher who has more than 20 published papers in well-indexed journals, I
have confidence that I will be able to handle it properly. Apart from that, I
have a team of experts who are energetic and enthusiastic. They all are
experienced in achieving funding. I may take their help if necessary.
