Opportunities exist for getting funds from national and international organizations especially for conducting research into latest areas, development of technologies and processes for solving real life problems and saving human life from catastrophic situations, creating new concepts for a sustainable world. The question is: why would a donor give funds to a researcher? Obviously, the application or proposal must be able to convince the donor that the purpose of funds would be fulfilled by the researcher. The trick is therefore in writing a convincing grant proposal. Writing a successful grant proposal is is challenging and also competitive. In the present time, lots of foundations, corporations, private industries, and government agencies worldwide announce funding leads round the year. However, their purposes are different according to the funding categories. Nonetheless, evaluation strategies for selecting a deserving applicant are strict. Each required criteria for the fund must be adequately covered and justified with evidence.
The current workshop will cover only main overall criteria. In this beginning session, brainstorming and sharing experience will take place among the participants to enlighten them with the knowledge and skills of fundamentals of grants and grant proposals.

I trust everyone on the team would agree that a budget proposal is a vital issue of a grant proposal. Exaggerated or unrealistic lists of budget may diminish chances for acceptance of a grant proposal even if the other components are perfect. The funders want the applicants proper distribution of the amount against each activity and utilization during implementation stages. I hope the lecture delivered by Dr. Zobaidul Kabir may enhance our understanding of the budget provision in a grant proposal. Kindly see the following presentation slides for further use.

Dear Participants. I hope you have enjoyed the presentation made by Mr Sabuj Kanti Mistry, a PhD research fellow of the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. His wonderful delivery includes a lot of key concepts of a successful grant proposal only in four slides. I hope you would agree with me that this lecture has fulfilled the gaps of the training program. The speaker shared his practical experience of a successful grant proposal in one and a half hours. I am sure, now you are conversant with the necessary attributes and potentials of the project team members, and crucial elements and strategies of a proposal. In fact, this final session can help you write a rational and justified proposal which you are going to present in the next session. Please find below the presentation slides and the video of the lecture.

Dear Participants, As per our desire Dr. Zobaidul Kabir has provided a glimpse of the grant opportunities in Bangladesh. Most of us are not familiar with these grant sources especially the grants offered by different ministries. So far I know that the ICT Ministry, Planning Commission, Health sectors of the government encourage the private university teachers to submit applications. However, adopting collaborative strategy/ approach will enhance the possibility for acceptance. Anyway, the complete lecture delivered by Dr. Zobaidul is given below.
