This is a multidisciplinary course designed to equip students with the knowledge about focal themes relating to Bangladesh. The first theme is the inevitability of the emergence of Bangladesh as a state entity in the context of a long historical background starting from 4th Century B.C.; and the second themes draws attention to the experience of Bangladesh as a small state in the Third World in governance and democratization. The course contents are arranged and presented in a way that avoid unnecessary factual details, and emphasize major themes and tends to get across the twin objectives to students. The students attending this course are expected to be made aware of the past and present of Bangladesh for the enlargement of their knowledge to face 21st century.
Rural Development - is a field of study that uses principles of both economy and geography. This course will investigate various dimensions of rural development, bearing in mind the relationship between rural and non-rural spheres. It will equip the learners with the necessary skills required to thrive in rural development careers. The main objective of this course is to train learners to become specialists in integrated rural development and focus on socio-economic and institutional aspects both in developed and developing countries.
This course is designed to provide students with a theoretically informed understanding of governance issues and the ways in which it impinges on various development questions. In addition, the students will acquire analytical skills to develop, analyze and implement governance policies in specific institutional settings.
