
This course is basically designed for students to attain the depth of knowledge that extends and promote them to develop their skills in the basic concepts of management. Students will be competent enough to work and adapt themselves to any position of the organization or corporate bodies and streamline with self-esteem. This is a multidisciplinary course designed to equip students with the knowledge on focal themes relating to Bangladesh. The first theme is the inevitability of the emergence of Bangladesh as a state entity in the context of a long historical background and the second theme draws attention to the experience of Bangladesh in governance and democratization. The students attending this course are expected to be made aware of the past and present of Bangladesh for the enlargement of their knowledge to face the challenges of the 21st century.

This is a multidisciplinary course designed to equip students with the knowledge about focal themes relating to Bangladesh. The course contents are arranged and presented in a way that avoid unnecessary factual details, and emphasize major themes and tends to get across the twin objectives to students. The students attending this course are expected to be made aware of the past and present of Bangladesh for the enlargement of their knowledge to face 21st century.

II Course Description
Introduction to Development Studies is a multidisciplinary branch of social sciences that addresses issues of development in developing countries. It deals with socio-cultural, political, economic and environmental factors that impact societal changes. The course is designed to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of development at local, regional, national and international levels.
III Purposes and Objectives
Introduction to Development Studies is to give the students learn main theories, concepts and debates in the field of development studies. This course also helps students explore what can be done to promote development through constructive policies and projects, and learn to analyse the economic, social, political, cultural and environmental impacts of specific initiatives.
IV. Teaching Method
Teaching will cover the areas of lectures, power point presentations, participative discussions and problem solving. Students are highly encouraged to participate in discussion and problem solving sessions. Active participation in the class will carry credit.
V. Scheme of Assessment
Assessment with be by group presentation and written examination. All presentations and answers must be written in English. Candidate will be required to submit one assignment.
