Political deflection means to resign from one's own party or to desert a political party in order to join another one. this term is also called floor crossing or side swapping.
By the 12th amendment, two conditions have been inserted. The effect of these two conditions are
1. Forming a group within the parliamentary party of a political party has been quite impossible due to provision in article 70(2)
2. If an independent elected member of Parliament joints any political party he will come under the purview to anti defection provisions.
