This course is designed to provide an interdisciplinary overview of key development theories and substantive policy issues concerning development in the 21st century. Starting from classical development theories, this course sheds light on how the paradigm and practices of development transform within the contemporary global socioeconomic and political contexts. The issues of globalization, economic downfall, international development policy, governmental and nongovernmental strategies at an institutional and grassroots level are all crucial in shaping development theories and strategies, and are prudently addressed in this course.
