The Media Laws and Ethics course is designed to make students aware of responsibility in exercising freedom of the press as guaranteed by the Constitution. It will discuss basic ethical framework in journalism in the light journalists’ code of ethics. The course will also study media laws, especially related to defamation, privacy, contempt of court and copyright.

Course Objectives: 

After completing this course, the students will be able to:

·         Practice ethics in their professional life as journalists and communication officers.

·         Understand the boundaries in freedom of press and media.

·         Skillfully handle ethical questions if faced while practicing journalism

·         Be respectful about individual’s privacy rights and differentiate between private and public life.

Be knowledgeable about media laws and save themselves as journalists or media personnel from being tangled to legal suits like defamation
