Course Rationale
This subject is classified under the Core Technology group and intended to teach the students about theory, concepts and principles of operation of various electronics devices related to their use and working in electronic systems and applications. The Knowledge and skills of Basic Electronics will help the students in Data Communications, Embedded Systems and Robotics.
Course Objective
The objective of the course is to equip the students with in-depth basic concepts and understanding of the principles of operation, construction and characteristics of semiconductor devices, and their utilization in basic electronics building blocks (or modules) and their performances. The techniques of analysis and design of basic building blocks of modern technology using devices would be emphasized
Course Outcomes (CO’s)
After completion the course students would be able
CO1
To develop basic knowledge and skills of basic electronics devices those are the basic building blocks of electronic circuits.
CO2
To develop knowledge and skills in analysis and design of electronic circuits using basic electronics devices.
CO3
To analyse complex networks of resistors, inductors, capacitors, diodes, transistors and op-amp subject to both direct (non-time-varying) and alternating voltages and currents.
CO4
To design, build and test electronic circuit project application utilizing knowledge and skills learned and using electronic test and measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, function generators, timers, etc. in experimental research.
