      General Course Instruction:

      ·         This course is of 3 credit hour so three classes (each class of 1 hour) per week.

      ·         DIU BLC will be the only platform beside regular classes.

      ·         Every students must be enrolled in DIU BLC.

      ·         DIU BLC is the platform for submitting assignment & presentation. Presentation may prepared in video format so that Students can upload it on BLC.

      ·         Best three class test should be counted for final evaluation among four class test.

      ·         Sometimes students will get opportunity for carrying bonus marks by engaging themselves in forum discussion, instant quiz and other group activities.

      ·         Course will be conducted according to course plan. So Students are requested to follow course instruction.

      General Course Description :

      Course Title: Textile Physics

      Course Code: TE-317

Credit Hours: 3 (Theory, 3 contact hours per week)

Course Level: Level 3 Term 1

      Rationale:

All courses reflect curriculum for excellence values, purposes and principles. As a

Textile Engineer, every student should have the ability to relate physics and textile fiber. They should know about effect of bending, torsion, friction, heat on textile material .After this course; students will have a brief idea about implementation of physics on textile fiber.

      Course Objectives :

By the end of the course it is expected that the students will be able to,

      • Explain about the mechanical properties (Tensile, Flexural, Torsional, Frictional) of the textile materials.
      • Explain about swelling, optical & thermal properties.
      • Know about static charge & its formation and effects on textile materials.
      • Know about physical structures of the fibres.
      • Learn about yarn geometry & fabric geometry.
      • Learn about yarn jamming & crimp% in to the fabric.

      Course outcomes (Cos):

After completing the course students will able to:

      ·         Learn the mechanical properties of textiles, including tensile, flexural, torsional and frictional properties and identify the difficulties of working with fibres, yarns, fabrics, and garments having poor mechanical properties.

      ·         Learn about swelling, thermal and optical properties, and its effects in textiles processing.

      ·         Identify the physical structure of textile fibres and know the influences of fibre migration during the spinning process.

Analyze the geometry of yarns and fabrics which has more significance in setting required cover factor, air permeability, drape ability and other properties of cloths.
