We are committed  to provide vibrant and robust online teaching in this lockdown situation. We are also eagerly awaiting to hear about your life, particularly your experience and management in this Covid-19 crisis. Therefore, it’s a big opportunity to knowledge sharing! 
      I have uploaded the lesson plans, and session 1 learning materials for your information. Please read those materials. Please note your questions and concerns, which we will discuss on the first day session.

      আমি এমন এক ক্রান্তিকালে আপনাদের উদ্দেশ্যে লিখছি যখন সারা পৃথিবী যেন  COVID-19 নামের এক নিকষ কালো বিষাদের চাদরে আবৃত।  চারদিকে প্রতিটি প্রানোচ্ছল মানবের মননে তীব্র আতংকের প্রলেপ এতে  আছে। বিশ্বজুড়ে শত সহস্র জীবন অবসানের এই করুন গল্প এই একুশ শতকের অসম্ভবঅভাবনীয় এবং আকাশছোঁয়া উৎকর্ষের অগ্রযাত্রার লাগাম টেনে ধরেছে। আমার গভীর এবং দৃঢ় বিশ্বাস আপনারা ড্যাফোডিল এর পাবলিক হেলথ  পরিবারের  সদস্যরা  উদ্ভুত এই অত্যন্ত অনভিপ্রেত  পরিস্থিতিকে আপনাদের অদম্য প্রাণশক্তি দিয়ে এই ভয়ংকর দুর্যোগে সময়ের চাহিদা অনুযায়ী ভুমিকা পালন করতে পারবেন। আমার প্রিয়  সহকর্মী ও শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ মানবতার উদার বীর সেনানী হয়ে ত্রাতার ভূমিকায় অবতীর্ণ হয়ে সম্মুখ সমরে নিজেদের নিয়োজিত করে মানব জাতিকে এই সঙ্কটকালীন সময়ে অক্সিজেন এর মতো বাঁচিয়ে রাখার প্রচেষ্টা অব্যাহত রেখেছেনআমার বিনীত অনুরোধ থাকবে আপনারা  আপনাদের স্বাস্থ্যগত জ্ঞানকে প্রয়োগ করে যথাসম্ভব সুরক্ষিত থাকার চেষ্টা করবেন এবং আপনাদের পরিবারের সদস্যদের পাশাপাশি সমাজের সকলকে নির্দেশিত স্বাস্থ্য বিধি মেনে চলতে উদ্বুদ্ধ করবেন।

    This handbook covers the description of topics, contents and assessments of the above mentioned course. The topics and contents have been derived from the MPH program syllabus. This course will help you to learn the basic concepts of its diverse disciplines and integrate the core elements of public health with a selected area of specialization to recognize how the field of public health applies to individuals, communities, and society overall.

      Course Title: MPH-501: Introduction to Public Health

      Overview/Rationale: 

      Introduction to Public Health is a 3-credit course designed for public health care professionals. ‘Introduction to Public Health’ course provides an overview of public health core functions and essential services: like key public health terms, determinants of health and their effects on population health. It includes fundamental concepts of public health such as the historical context of old versus new public health, healthy public policy, health protection, surveillance and monitoring of communicable and non-communicable diseases, managing domains for public health action, etc.

      Aims : 

      To give students a good understanding about the basic concepts and real important terms and area of public health, what determines health, and how society influences health. 

      Learning Outcome: 

      On completion of this Course, the successful student will be able to:

      1.    Define and describe the history, role, concept of public health and its relationship with disease, its actions, settings and intervention types at a local and global level.

      2.    Develop basic knowledge on the New Public Health and Healthy Public Policy and how it works in policy making as an ecological framework.

      3.    Develop and manage action plans to determine solutions to reduce the incidence of communicable and non-communicable disease, and its social and economic impacts on a population
