This
course is designed to provide an interdisciplinary overview of key development
theories and substantive policy issues concerning development in the 21st
century. Starting from classical development theories, this course sheds light
on how the paradigm and practices of development transform within the contemporary
global socioeconomic and political contexts. The issues of globalization,
economic downfall, international development policy, governmental and
nongovernmental strategies at an institutional and grassroots level are all
crucial in shaping development theories and strategies, and are prudently
addressed in this course.
