  • Welcome to Fabric Manufacturing-I



    • Course Rationale:

      The aim of the course is to introduce the basic concepts of woven fabric manufacturing to the sophomores of Textile Engineering/ Technology. The course material is designed to create interest among students and hone their analytical ability.

    •  Course Objectives:

          By the end of this course it is expected that the student will be able to

      • Explain the terminology, basic concepts and principles of winding, warping, sizing, Drawing, Drafting and knitting.
      • Prepare proper planning required for weave preparation.

      • Analyze the requirement of raw materials for winding, warping and sizing.

      • Calculate the production and its efficiency of each s.

      • Maintain product quality in winding, warping and sizing.

      • Describe function of primary elements like needle, sinker and cam of knitting machine.

    • Course Outcomes (CO’s):

      CO 1      : Able to know about the basic difference between weaving and knitting.

      CO2       : Able to understand basic preparations of weaving.

      CO3       : Able to understand knitting terms and function.

      CO4       : Able to identify different knit fabric.

      CO5       : Able to understand any design for knitting machine.

        Attendance: Students will get marks on their attendance; one will get 100% marks on 100% presence in the class.

         Lab Report: Lab reports are expected to complete just after completion of the class. With the help of the Lab Manual, you are advised to make a report to submit. Below rubric will be followed for marks distribution-

        Lab Performance: A viva of individual student will be taken after completion of all the experiment. Besides that class performance of the individuals will be considered. Rubric of lab performance is given below:

        Lab Final: A lab final will be conducted after completion of the course. Students will be given a set of questions based on experiments of the lab. They have to answer those question along with proper data, necessary calculation and diagram.

        • Fabric Manufacturing-I lab


          Course Objective:

          The course is designed to enhance the practical knowledge of the students and to make a bridge between the theoretical and practical areas of fabric manufacturing technology.

          Weaving:

          Study on Pirn winding machine, study on direct warping machine an its calculations, experiment on sectional warping machine and its calculations, study on different parts of sizing machine and its mechanism. Practical study on shuttle less weaving machines.

          Knitting:

          Study on the elements of a knitting machine, study on yarn path diagram of circular knitting machine, drawing the gearing diagram of circular knitting machine.
