    • Course Description :

      • History is the study of what happened in the past. History is an endless dialogue between the present and the past. “History reminds us of the inherent weakness in the human condition and the very real possibility that our fellow human beings are capable of horrendous things. Studying History will develop our ability to think critically about what happened in the past, and how this shapes with the lives of people around the world. By looking at the history of different cultures, you can build a strong understanding of why certain people act the way they do. For instance, by looking at the history of the USA, we can see why race tensions continued on past the abolition of slavery and remain today. By reading the history of India we can see why the Caste system still remains in the subcontinent. The course has been designed to facilitate the students in obtaining the inclusive idea about struggling past, divers culture and heritage of Bangladesh in the long life of long historical background. It will focus on the social, economic and political developments that have been taken place before and since it’s independence in the 20th century. It is important for every citizen of an independent country to know the history of his nation. As a Bangladeshi we should know the background of our Liberation War and how Bangladesh became independent. Because the story of our Liberation War is our pride and glory.  By reading this course we could see our past, background our Liberation war and how Bangladesh became independent.


    • Course Objectives :

      • The course is planned to equip students with the knowledge about the inevitability of the emergence of Bangladesh as a sovereign state in the context of a long historical background. It equips the students to understand the events critically and deeply in the light of history which will make them the ideal citizen with patriotism towards the national integration and advancement.

      • Identify and explain the main events of the history of Bangladesh since the pre-historic time to the Emergence of Bangladesh as an sovereign state in 1971.
      • Describe historical events for multiple perspectives.
      • Trace the historical root of Bangladesh as an Independent state.
      • Formulate, sustain and justify a historical argument using original ideas.
      • Identify and explain the inevitability of the emergence of Bangladesh as a sovereign state.
