    • Course Rationale:

      The aim of the course is to introduce the basic concepts of woven fabric manufacturing to the sophomores of Textile Engineering/ Technology. The course material is designed to create interest among students and hone their analytical ability.

    •  Course Objectives:

          By the end of this course it is expected that the student will be able to

      • Explain the terminology, basic concepts and principles of winding, warping, sizing, Drawing, Drafting and knitting.
      • Prepare proper planning required for weave preparation.

      • Analyze the requirement of raw materials for winding, warping and sizing.

      • Calculate the production and its efficiency of each s.

      • Maintain product quality in winding, warping and sizing.

      • Describe function of primary elements like needle, sinker and cam of knitting machine.

    • Course Outcomes (CO’s):

      CO 1      : Able to know about the basic difference between weaving and knitting.

      CO2       : Able to understand basic preparations of weaving.

      CO3       : Able to understand knitting terms and function.

      CO4       : Able to identify different knit fabric.

      CO5       : Able to understand any design for knitting machine.

    Lesson 1

    In this lesson, we will discuss about cloth, types of fabric, weaving, woven fabric, historical background, and flow chart of the weaving process.

    Lesson 2

    In this lesson, we will discuss winding, important definitions of winding, and objectives of winding.

    Lesson 3

    In this lesson, we will discuss the winding machine, winding requirements, and types of winding packages, winding faults.

      In this lesson, we will discuss yarn preparation for weaving, good warp, yarn packages and their advantages and disadvantages, precision and non-precision winding.

      In this lesson, we will discuss methods of driving, yarn withdrawal, auxiliary function of winding, yarn guide, yarn tension and winding efficiency.
