Learnthe foundations of figure drawing: techniques for bringing the human form tolife on paper. Artist and teacher breaks down a classical approach to figuredrawing into simple steps: capturing gesture and motion, mapping out structureand form, understanding the common "landmarks" of the body, drawingproportionally, and adding volume with shapes and shadows. Filmed on premise ina professional art studio, this course shows how to work with live models anddifferent drawing materials. It's ideal for beginners who are just learning todraw the human figure as well as experienced artists who want to brush up theirdrawing skills. Objectives: -Broaden knowledge of historical contexts of art. -Apply processes of generating and solving problems in art; analyze, interpret and question traditional methodologies and preconceived notions of art and art making. - Develop an appreciation and tolerance of diverse perspectives dealing with art, culture, teaching and learning. -Become involved in both individual and collaborative art experiences with other students and faculty. - Develop ideas regarding career paths for an art profession or an art-related field. -Experience and develop visual thinking and creative problem solving in art, as well as recognizing the importance of perception, experimentation, innovation and critical thinking. Course Description/Contents: Drawing Lectures on Artist: The use of Chiaroscuro; Dynamic Line Quality; Visual Literacy; Isometric Scaling: Proportional Weight; Science and Surface; Emotional Distance; Dimensional (mixed media) Elements: Found Objects and Paper; Medium Control; Photographic Extensions; Perspective: Foreground; Middle ground; Background; Social Issues; Teachers; Leaders; Universal Icons; Creative Drawing Intuition and Space; Form vs. Thought; Line; Mass; Progression; Building compositions. [Prerequisite: MCT113] Method of delivery and Activities: Lecture / power point presentation, student activities / group work (mandatory) / lab work, presentation, practical work / assignment etc. Plus use of online platforms of DIU In case of a theory+ lab, classes will be conducted in the lab and emphasis will be given on the lab work. In each class, maximum 20-30 minutes lecture / power point presentation will give then lab work and practice by the students, monitoring lab work. More skilled students may tutor others in the group, etc.
