Algorithms are a set of step by step instruction.   

Well-built algorithms help optimize time by finding and programming the shortest path to get something done. We can feel the importance of using algorithms. For example, I use facebook and I don’t know  that facebook also uses an algorithm which determines which  posts to show me at the top of my feed  based on my browsing habits. This way, I spend less time looking for posts that I might be interested in.
