Saytzeff Rule states that the more substituted alkene will be the major product.

* Saytzeff’s rule predicts the regioselectivity of the olefin (alkene), formed by the elimination reaction of 2o or 3o alkyl halides.
* During the elimination reaction proton is removed from the carbon atom having less number of substituents.

Saytzeff's rule predicts the regioselectivity of the olefin (alkene), formed by the elimination reaction of 2o or 3o alkyl halides. During the elimination reaction proton is removed from the carbon atom having less number of substituents. The corresponding olefin is known as the Saytzeff's product.

There are haloalkanes that can undergo elimination in two different ways resulting in two different products. Alkenes with less number of hydrogens on the double-bonded carbon atoms are the preferred product. This process is known as Saytzeff's rule.
