Land Commission

According to section 4 of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord 1997, a Land Commission is constituted to dispose of disputes relating to lands in the three hilly districts - Bandarban, Rangama- ti and Khagrachari. This Commission consists of five members headed by a retired Judge of the High Court Division. The other members include a representative of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council, a Circle Chief, an Additional Divisional Commissioner and a Chairman of the District Council. The Ministry of Land is duty bound to offer all cooperation to the Commission. For running the Commission, a separate law, namely, the Chittagong Hill Tracts Land Dispute Resolution Commission Act, 2001 is also enacted.
