The majority of the muscles in our body are skeletal muscles. They make up between 30 to 40% of your total body mass. Tendons attach skeletal muscle tissue to bones throughout our body. Our shoulder muscles, hamstring muscles and abdominal muscles are all examples of skeletal muscles.

The majority of the muscles in your body are skeletal muscles. They make up between 30 to 40% of your total body mass. Tendons (tough bands of connective tissue) attach skeletal muscle tissue to bones throughout your body. Your shoulder muscles, hamstring muscles and abdominal muscles are all examples of skeletal muscles.

Skeletal muscles are voluntary muscles, meaning you control how and when they move and work. Nerves in your somatic nervous system send signals to make them function. If you reach for a book on a shelf, you’re using skeletal muscles in your neck, arm and shoulder.

Skeletal muscle, also called voluntary muscle, in vertebrates, most common of the three types of muscle in the body. Skeletal muscles are attached to bones by tendons, and they produce all the movements of body parts in relation to each other. Unlike smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, skeletal muscle is under voluntary control. Similar to cardiac muscle, however, skeletal muscle is striated; its long, thin, multinucleated fibres are crossed with a regular pattern of fine red and white lines, giving the muscle a distinctive appearance. Skeletal muscle fibres are bound together by connective tissue and communicate with nerves and blood vessels. For more information on the structure and function of skeletal muscle, see muscle and muscle system, human.

The muscular system is composed of specialized cells called muscle fibers. Muscles, attached to bones or internal organs and blood vessels, are responsible for movement. Nearly all movement in the body is the result of muscle contraction.

There are 3 types muscle system
1.Skeletal muscle
2.Cardiac muscle
3.Smooth muscle

SKELETAL MUSCLE
Skeletal muscle attached with skeletal which is voluntary muscle. Example-Biceps, Triceps etc.
CARDIAC MUSCLE
Cardiac muscle takes place in heart. There are special tissue name intercalated disc. It helps to continue elasticity of cardiac muscle in pumping of blood circulation.
SMOOTH MUSCLE
Smooth muscles are in soft and tube organs like urinary bladder, blood vessel and lymphatic vessel etc.
