From this chapter I got to know about the history of language movement. Also I have learnt about discrimination and torture in all areas of West Pakistan towards East Pakistan .
West Pakistanis did not accept Bengali, the language of East Pakistan at that time. Rather they wanted to impose their language Urdu on the Bengalis. Not only did they not recognize the language of Bengalis but they discriminated against Bengalis in every sector. At that time the language movement gave birth to a sense of nationalism in the minds of Bengalis and opened new horizons.
It has created a new chapter which has occupied an impeccable place in the history of the prolonged liberation struggle of the Bengalis. The language movement was a struggle for culture and self-preservation. So, I have learnt the importance of the language movement in awakening the consciousness about rights and freedom of the Bengalis is immense.
