An Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is a monitoring system that detects suspicious activities and generates alerts when they are detected. 

Mainly there are two main types of IDS.

1. NIDS(Network Intrusion Detection System)

2.HIDS(Host Intrusion Detection System)
