Negligence is the inability to act with the degree of caution that someone of reasonable caution would have displayed in the same situation. The behavior typically comprises of actions, but when there is a duty to act (such as a duty to assist victims of one's earlier behavior), it can also consist of omissions. The following examples of common negligence cases fall into this category, however they are not exhaustive: A driver hits another car after failing to stop at a stop sign. A motorist strikes a cyclist after using the bicycle lane improperly. A motorist strikes a pedestrian in a crosswalk after running a red light.
