Pakistan and Bangladesh have complex historical ties. Both were part of British India until 1947 when the region gained independence. After independence, Pakistan was created as a separate state for Muslims, comprising West and East Pakistan (modern-day Bangladesh). However, tensions between the two wings led to the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, resulting in the creation of the independent state of Bangladesh. Since then, they have been separate nations with distinct identities and histories.
