The alimentary system, also known as the digestive system, is responsible for breaking down food into nutrients that the body can use for energy and growth. It consists of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, large intestine, rectum, and anus. Each organ plays a specific role in digestion, absorption, and elimination.
