The country is primarily a low-lying delta, with about two-thirds of its land area less than 5 meters above sea level, making it prone to riverine and coastal flooding. Additionally, its tropical monsoon climate brings heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of floods. At the same time, its location near warm ocean waters is ideal for the formation of intense cyclones, which frequently strike the coastal regions.
