Accounting and Cost Management

This course provides foundational knowledge in financial accounting and cost management, focusing on theoretical principles and practical applications. It equips students with skills to analyze and record business transactions, prepare financial statements, and understand key accounting concepts such as the accounting cycle, GAAP, and cost classifications. The curriculum also introduces business and economic principles, emphasizing the theory of demand and supply.

Students will learn to handle real-world scenarios by analyzing financial statements of Bangladeshi companies. The course integrates lectures, group discussions, and assignments, with assessments through class tests, assignments, presentations, and examinations. By the semester’s end, students will develop analytical and presentation skills, enabling them to apply accounting principles effectively in professional settings. Key learning resources include texts by Weygandt, Kieso, Garrison, and Noreen, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of accounting and managerial cost practices.
