Course Description: The course will focus on health and population problem and family planning programmes in Bangladesh and also shed light on the world situation of health and population. In this course the issues on health and population will be discussed with communication and cultural aspects. The following topics will be included in the course: Demographic profile of Bangladesh and the implication of population explosion; National Population Policy, Action and Strategies; Aspects of population information, education, communication and research; Cultural aspects of communication on health and population issues; Contemporary media responses and behaviour change communication (BCC) through mass media on nutrition, adolescent and sex education, drug prevention, arsenic mitigation, reproductive health, mother and child health and HIV and AIDS; Message development for population communication, motivation and campaign engaging interpersonal and mass media channels. |
Course Objectives: The course will equip the students with necessary knowledge on: Ø Advocacy and campaign on health and population problem and family planning programmes in Bangladesh Ø Demographic profile of Bangladesh and the implication of population explosion; National Population Policy, Action and Strategies; Aspects of population information, education, communication and research; Cultural aspects of communication on health and population issues Ø Contemporary media responses and behaviour change communication (BCC)
