At the very first I had faced a problem using file system in notepad . I created two files that were student details and student report. Though these two files are related but they were in different files. when i wanted to display the student files along student report I cannot directly pick those two files. This really makes a problem . Even there is a huge number of data then it becomes difficult to search information.
Disadvantages:
Here, same information be duplicated in several places . for this problem I need higher storage and In addition, it leads to data inconsistency; the various copies of the same data may no longer agree.
Advantages :
In file system it is very easy and simple to create a file . And It is possible to store data compactly.

If i created three files for car ,car brand and car number, also save the all file various type of like that doc, pdf and word.
Advantages: It is very simple for me to save the file
Disadvantages: If i create a database for my all file it will be critical for me to develop because various type of cant accept in the same database entity file.

Re: Forum Discussion about pros and cons of Conventional File Processing System
Advantage & Disadvantages of File Processing Systems:
Advantage:
1. Privacy: - Limited access means privacy of data.
2. Easy access to data – Database systems manages data in such a way so that the data is easily accessible with fast response times.
3. Flexible: - Database systems are more flexible than file processing systems.
Disadvantages:
1. Program-Data Dependence. File descriptions are stored within each application program that accesses a given file.
2. Excessive Program Maintenance. The preceding factors create a heavy program maintenance load.

I understood.
Re: Forum Discussion about pros and cons of Conventional File Processing System
Re: Forum Discussion about pros and cons of Conventional File Processing System
1.It is possible to take faster and automatic back-up of database stored in files of computer-based systems.
computer systems provide functionalities to serve this purpose.it is also possible to develop specific application program for this purpose.
2.It is possible to store data compactly
Disadvantage:
1It is possible that the same information may be duplicated in different files.this leads to data redundancy results in memory wastage.

2. Compactness:
It is possible to store data compactly.
3. Data Retrieval:
Computer-based systems provide enhanced data retrieval techniques to retrieve data stored in files in easy and efficient way.
4. Editing:
It is easy to edit any information stored in computers in form of files.
Specific application programs or editing software can be used for this purpose.
Disadvantages:
1. Data Redundancy:
It is possible that the same information may be duplicated in different files.this leads to data redundancy results in memory wastage.
2. Data Inconsistency:
Because of data redundancy,it is possible that data may not be in consistent state.
3. Difficulty in Accessing Data:
Accessing data is not convenient and efficient in file processing system.
4. Limited Data Sharing:
Data are scattered in various files.also different files may have different formats and these files may be stored in different folders may be of different departments.
So, due to this data isolation, it is difficult to share data among different applications.
Re: Forum Discussion about pros and cons of Conventional File Processing System
pros:
1. Conventional files are relatively easy to design and implement because they are normally based on a single application or information system.
2. Historically, another advantage of conventional files has been processing speed.
3. Data backup is easier.
cons:
1. Duplication of data items in multiple files is normally cited as the principal disadvantage of file-based systems.
2. A significant disadvantage of files is their inflexibility and non-scalability.
3. Integrity problems.
