A crossbar switch is an assembly of individual switches between a set of inputs and a set of outputs. The switches are arranged in a matrix.

 In strowger switching system, there are lots of moving mechanical parts which need to be maintained regularly.  But in the crossbar switching system mechanical parts are reduced in the circuit.

In crossbar switching system call processing time is lesser than strowger switching.

Crossbar allows multiple routing paths for call establishment where the strowger switching system uses a single routing path at once.
