Hindu law in Bangladesh is the collection of that laws by which a Hindu is able to lead his life properly. It deals with personal aspects i.e. marriage, maintenance, laws of succession, adoption, endowments, partition and all other necessary aspects. These are included and described properly in Hindu Law.Law as understood by the Hindus is a branch of ‘Dharma’. It is an expression of wide importance and means the summation of duties and obligations including religious, moral, social and legal. ‘Dharma’ means what is followed by those who are learned in ‘Veda’ and what is approved by the conscience of the virtuous who are exempted from hatred and inordinate with affection.

The law of “specific relief” as administered in Bangladesh is primarily contained in the Specific Relief Act, 1877. It was promulgated on the 7th of February, 1877 in British-India, prior to Partition in 1947. Even before the codification of Specific Relief Act, specific relief had been administered in British-India based on the principles of fairness, equity, justice and good conscience.The Specific Relief Act is divided into three parts: The first part contains preliminary matters. Section 5 of the Act states how specific relief is given. Section 7 states that specific relief cannot be sought for the mere purpose of enforcing penal law. The second part contains provisions for the kinds of relief. The third part contains provisions preventing relief (referred to in number iii above).

There are various units within the legal drafting course with the core basis on online lessons and discussions with tutors as well as reading and listening exercises. Throughout the legal drafting course, there will be written and verbal assignments to assess the depth of knowledge and understanding of the course. This will help students to expand their abilities and move to the next level within the legal drafting course.
