We all have limited time in this world which we often forget and we then put our priorities based on instant demand, putting away other things that might've been as important for the future that has no guarantee. Tim Kreider has taken his time to make us aware of this simple fact. We take 'time' for granted and make ourselves appear "too busy" to appreciate or enjoy life as if being busy is something to be proud of or is a privilege to achieve. This 'busy' term seems to hold a status itself.
He also mentions that idleness is not necessarily that bad since most genius ideas come into existence from an idle person. He stated examples of Newton exploring gravity while resting under a tree and Archimedes discovering buoyancy in the bath. We too understand that without the ambition to be lazy the coffee machine or the washing machine would not be invented. This was only a surface-level example but the main focus is that we have a wrong concept planted in our brains we should only enjoy life when we earn stability or when we will be able to afford it. No one can ensure how long their life journey will last. It's far better to lead a happy life with people you love and care for, doing activities that will make you not regret your decisions later on. Again, Tim Kreider is not fully advising us to be idle always but expressing to us how we should set or rearrange our priorities and actually experience life.
