The chapter discusses the history of Bangladesh specifically focusing on the Language Movement and the discrimination faced by East Pakistan in the past. It explains how Bangladesh was originally a part of Pakistan but became independent in 1971 after a long and bloody war.
Language is the primary tool for expression and communication. The language movement was one of the first movement against the discrimination against Bengali people. On 21 February 1952, police opened fire on rallies. Abdus Salam, Abul Barkat, Rafiq Uddin Ahmed, Abdul Jabbar and Shafiur Rahman died, with hundreds of others injured. This was a rare incident in history, where people sacrificed their lives for their mother tongue. They sacrificed their life for mother tongue.
This chapter also highlights the discrimination and contempt of Bengalis by East Pakistan. Bengalis were beginning to perceive that they were being discriminated against in business. Government service and all sphere of trade and commerce.While the security of East Pakistan was uncertain, the province was also subjected to serious discrimination in military matters. The headquarters of the three defense services were established in West Pakistan. No Bengali could be found in the high posts in the Defense Services as those posts were monopolized by the West Pakistanis.
Lastly I can say this chapter help to know me the tenacity of Bengalis for our language and also know the struggle of them to survive their life during the liberation war.

Speaking, writing and reading are integral to everyday life, where language is the primary tool for expression and communication. We had earned the right to our mother tongue with great difficulty so it gives me courage to fight more and also learn nerver give up in any situation. Inspires to fight till the last drop of blood.
