The international community played a crucial role in the liberation war of Bangladesh.

Indian government led by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi played their charismatic role by taking care of this humiliated bunch of people by ensuring them food, accommodation, medical assistance and India spent 700 million US dollar just to look after this entire population who were subjected to all sorts of decays by the West Pakistan. They also provided military and logistical support to the Mukti Bahini.

Secondly, the United States, the Soviet Union, and China were the three major global powers that played key roles in the conflict. The United States initially supported Pakistan during the war, but later shifted its position and supported the Bangladesh cause. The Soviet Union and China, on the other hand, supported India and the Bangladeshi freedom fighters.

Thirdly, several international organizations, including the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and non-governmental organizations such as Oxfam and Save the Children, provided humanitarian assistance to the people of Bangladesh during the war. These organizations helped to provide food, shelter, and medical aid to the refugees and victims of the conflict.
