Objectives:
· To introduce students with basic process of measuring electrical quantities such as voltage, current, resistance and capacitance.
· To familiarize students with advantages, disadvantages and limitations of measurement equipment.
. To understand instrumentation amplifier and differential amplifiers.
. To identify various measuring instruments and sensors used to detect physical and electrical quantities.
. To study rectification using op-amps.
. To design active filters of higher gain by cascading lower gain filters
Course Contents:
1. Resistance measurement by whitestone bridge
2. High Resistance measurement by loss of charge method
3. Capacitance measurement by 555 timer.
4. Precision Rectifier.
5. Study of a Voltage Doubler Circuit .
6. Study of a basic Differential Amplifier .
7. Study of Instrumentation Amplifier.
8. Introduction to Analog to Digital(A/D) And Digital to Analog (D/A) Conversion.
9. Electronic Ohmmeter.
10. introduction to Optocoupler, Photodiode and LED.
11. Design of an Active Low Pass Butterworth Filter .
12. Study of Universal High Resistive Voltmeter.
