    Class Attendance

    Class attendance is an essential requirement and a student attending all the classes will be awarded 07 points.


    Class Test

    Short or MCQ questions must be answered in 30 minutes. Number of class tests would be 4. Class tests must be attended and makeups would be allowed only under special circumstances with a depreciation of 10% points.

    Assignment

    This is assigned on a topic for which a student work over a period of time and then submit an assessable document through Google Classroom. Assignments must be submitted by the given deadline or special permission must be requested before the due date.

     Presentation

    Power Point presentation of 5 minutes duration on selected title to be delivered and relevant questions should be answered satisfactorily before the students and teachers in the classroom for assessment before Final examination. Organize and practice your presentation in advance; make sure you don’t exceed the time limit.

     Final Examination

    This examination will consist of short and essay type questions. Questions will be provided and must be answered in 120 minutes. Makeups would be allowed only after acceptance of application and on payment of prescribed fees.

    Course Objectives:

    This course intends to provide the students with the basic concepts of Special Apparel Manufacturing, Fashion, CSR and compliance. Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to-

      • · Explain about breathability, thermal comfort, heat transfer and thermal resistance
      • · Categorise and describe about different types of special garments and their required properties.
      • ·Identify fashion trend of the customers.
      • Explain about corporate social responsibility and garments compliance

    Breathability: Definition, Types, Mechanism, Physiological Process of Maintaining Constant ‘Core’ Temperature of Human Body Mechanism of Heat Transfer from Human Body, Concept of Thermal Apparel Design, Heat Transfer and Comfort, Its Importance, Factors influencing Thermal Comfort, Suitable Materials for Thermal Clothing, Heat Loss through Clothing, Thermal Resistance, Effect of Fabric Construction and Garments Characteristics on Thermal Protection.

      Thermal clothing means the clothing which feel cool in warm weather and warm in cool weather.
      Basic properties of those clothing depends on their thickness, air permeability and wicking properties.

      The combination of these six factors determine whether a person feels cold, warm, comfortable or uncomfortable

    • Thermal resistance is a heat property and a measurement of a temperature difference by which an object or material resists a heat flow (heat per time unit or thermal resistance). Thermal resistance is the reciprocal of thermal conductance.

      Temp loss through clothing is expressed as thermal resistance and measured by Tog meter and expressed as Tog value. Higher the Tog value, higher the thermal resistance, as well as lower the temp loss
