This Ordinance may be called the Muslim Family Law Ordinance. It extends to the whole of Bangladesh and applies to all Muslim citizens of Bangladesh wherever they may be.

In other words, this ordinance repeals the bindings to marry another male before marrying the same husband. Whoever contravenes the provisions shall be punishable with simple imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or with fine which may extend to five thousand taka, or with both.
