In the ancient period, there were no court proceedings or systems for settling disputes between people. That time settling the dispute had come by Alternative Dispute Resolution system ( Negotiation, mediation, arbitration).

Then the court proceedings have come in the modern period but they can't settle disputes easily in a short period for this again ADR system is applicable at any stage of the proceeding. In June 2000, formalized ADR was introduced in Bangladesh by means of court-annexed judicial settlement pilot projects.
