Basically ADR is the resolution of parties dispute or problems which is called Alternative Dispute Resolution. 

In the ancient period, there were no court proceedings for settling disputes between people. That time settling the disputes had come by alternative dispute resolution. 

From ancient period the legislature developments of ADR have come by :

1. The Arbitration Act 1899

2. Family Court Ordinance 1985

3. Artha Rin Adalat Ain 2003

4. Village Court Ordinance 1976

5. The Bengal Regulation Act 1772

6. The Regulation Act 1781

7. The Code of Civil Procedure 1908

8. The Contract Act 1872

In June 2000 formalized ADR was introduced in Bangladesh by means of court annexed judicial settlement pilot projects. Different forms of ADR hav been in existence for thousands of years.
