Thevenin's theorem is a fundamental principle in electrical circuit analysis. It allows us to simplify a complex network of resistors, voltage sources, and current sources into an equivalent circuit consisting of a single voltage source and a single resistor. This equivalent circuit, known as the Thevenin equivalent circuit, accurately represents the behavior of the original circuit when viewed from a specific pair of terminals.
